Mixed Media Green Butterfly Card

Hello everyone,

Just a quick post of my latest creation...

First of all, I need to thank Mona Pendleton for the inspiration! I was simply blow away by her creation which you can find here.

I created this card for a co-worker that got a job in a different department. She is a little bit scared of that new adventure, so I wanted to cheer her, wish her good luck and encourage her with this card...

To create the background I used a piece of water color cardstock and applied texture paste with Tim Holtz Gothic stencil, sprayed Ranger Dilusions Turquoise ink, then I dabbed some Peeled Paint Distress Paint and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink...I stamped a little butterfly in top right corner...

Butterfly was colored with same mediums and then covered with clear crackle paint. After it dried I applied a coat of gesso to get the cracks in paint stand out...
The key was also painted with gesso. I added a big rhinestone to bling up this card a little bit...and I used Tim Holtz sentiment plate that was colored with Peeled Paint Distress Paint...

The seam binding ribbon was hand died with trio of inks and paints I used to create the rest of the card...

I am entering this card into following challenges:

Art with Heart March Challenge "Go Green"

Artist Trading Post Exchange "Springtime" which is their last challenge :(

Eclectic Ellapu Purple Team "Go Green"

The Mixed Media Challenge #9 {Hints of Spring}

Sketch Saturday #350

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge "Just a Hint of Clover"

and

Simply Create Too "St Patrick's Day/Mostly Green"

I hope you enjoyed this post...
Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by...

  17. Hi Samra, I could have sworn I commented on this...but since I obviously only did so in my head previously, I will say first, it is a fabulous design, the butterfly is absolutely the prettiest one I've ever seen, and I cannot believe that key has been just painted with gesso! I think that's what I thought I said before. Now I get to say congratulations on your Top 3 win at ATP!!! You go girl! I'm so proud of you! You have been doing a wonderful job with the challenges! Hugs!

    1. Hi Sarah :) Truthfully it all just comes with time and your will to expand on your styles...I started off with very CAS cards and went onto shabby chic and vintage, and now am trying to venture more into mixed media and steampunk, I am not good at it, but with practice I hope I'll achieve acceptable level of expertise :) Just go for it and have fun :) And I am glad that you like my card :)

  21. I just keep looking at all of your wonderful creations and am inspired to keep trying my hand at Vintage and Shabby Chic. I am the total opposite of you, Steampunk is my go to but I am learning. You are so correct with it taking time and the willingness to try out new techniques and work outside your comfort zone. Thanks for inspiring and this card would make any co-worker happy. Another amazing and gorgeous creation Samra! Hugz to you muffin! ~Niki

    1. Thank you so much Niki :) I am trying to be versatile in my work, so what ever the occasion is I can get on it and not dread about it :) You should have seen me looking at that book cover I made for AVJ birthday...It was so white and ready to be painted, and I did not dare to start...took a week before I just went for it...and after a while turned out the way I kinda planned...You are amazing stempunk artist and I have no idea where even to begin with praise of your work!!! I am a big fan of yours my darling!!!
