Shabby Chic Wedding Hearts Card

Hello everyone,
Just a quick post of my newest creation...

I distressed edges of the base cardstock and diagonally layered two strips of white embroidered ribbon. The next two layers on my card are Cricut Ornamental Iron 2 and Damask Decor cutouts which I covered with a thick layer of white crackle distress paint to give it that rustic aged look. I added some more white embroidered ribbon underneath the square damask heart cutout and created ruffles for extra shabbiness and dimension.

You can see that aged look in this closeup...Distressing and aging are my favorite techniques.

I created this shabby bow with white seam binding ribbon and embellished it with a vintage crown button and rustic key that I painted with white spray paint and added some white crackle distress paint on it as well. Distressing, aging and adding a shabby bow is just my thing :)

Couple more side views of the card...

  4. Holy jumpins Samra! I think it's time you come for a visit and teach me some of your techniques! This is absolutely breathtaking, wow! Your damask elements are beyond gorgeous! How did you get the two different colours of crackle using just white crackle paint, or did I misunderstand something? Love the diagonal lace and the key is such a great bit for an antique touch! I would love to be a fly on the wall of your craft room!!

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments on my blog while I was on holiday! I had a great time with my Mom, although the week flew by way too quickly! Hope you had a great week! I will email you with all the boring details! See you out on the dance floor! hugs :)

    1. You are too funny my friend! I learned most of my techniques from YOU! The damask decor pieces are Cricut machine cuouts, and those are usually cut out in layers. So, the bottom part is the base layer cut out in beige color heavy card stock, then the top part that is actual damask design was black card stock cutout, then I glued those two cutouts together and cover them with white crackle paint so the black turned out light grey. I love my Cricut machine, that is how it all started, one of my coworkers told me her cousing had this cool machine that cuts out all kinds of things...so I bought machine and bunch of different cartridges and started off as CAS girl but that Pinterest showed me all the fabulous creations from all around the world and when I saw some shabby cards I just fell in love with that style and decided to slowly teach myself to make cards like that...I use my Cricut machine to cut out all kinds of designs and embellishments and then work around them to create what ever...
