Hello everyone,
for some reason I try to stay away from creating red and green holiday cards, but this time it just seemed to be the right color combo for what I was trying to create....
I used a red music sheet patterned paper as my base, distressed edges and inked them with Fired Brick distress ink. My next layer is a wooden wall patterned paper that I also distressed around the edges and inked with Vintage Photo distress ink. To create the holiday wreath I used Cricut cutouts that I inked with Peeled Paint distress ink and some of them also have Vintage Photo ink added... The small pine branches are Martha Stewart branch punches in dark green and brown. I added some red berries to it and a shabby bow with jingle bells covered with rustic gold embossing powder which I used as glitter rather than embossing tool.
This quadruple shabby bow was made with Lipstick Red seam binding ribbon and embellished with tiny red twine bow and jingle bells.
The sentiment was created on my PC, printed on white cardstock and distressed with Antique Linen distress ink. I placed the sentiment into a Tim Holtz rustic metal frame. I added another bow underneath it and couple of red berry branches to add to a very festive look.
Couple more side views of the card...
I am entering this card into following challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers and More...#127 A Touch of Charm I added the jingle bells :)
Fusion Card Challenge Sparkly Christmas I was inspired by the photo and used music sheet paper, red bow and jingle bells.
Just us Girls #268 Photo Inspiration Challenge where I found inspiration in the wooden part of the sled and the wreath.
A Christmas Card Challenge Merry Monday #135 Christmas Bells I added the jinble bells to my wreath.
and I decided to enter this card as my second entry to
The Mixed Media Challenge #5 Christmas
I hope you enjoyed this post.
Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by...
Samra

DeleteSo beautifully rustic ... This evokes a long ago Christmas to me ... Beautiful Samra
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ros! I share your feelings about evoking a long ago Christmas, this card did that to me too :)
DeleteWow Samra! Just when I think I have seen my favourite Christmas card ever, you go and design something even more spectacular! As a small town girl raised on a ranch, there is a special place in my heart for this traditional style card and you have absolutely mastered the rustic cottage feel! The deep red and greens are just perfect and that wood background...so fabulous I can almost smell the pine! This is just the perfect mix of shabby, vintage and elegant! I bow to the master!
ReplyDeleteALSO...I would like to know, once again...what type of glitter you are using, and also, how the heck do you get such an even coverage over the bells??? I tried using some Mod Podge, but the glitter kept clumping up in all the creases. Teach me, pleeeeeeease!! big hugs my crafty friend and I'll see you out on the dance floor! :)
Oh my goodness! It is supposed to be still dark here, it is only 5:28am! But I have my own sunshine right here! Pamellia!!! Hello my friend! Thank you so very much for making my day, once again! I am glad you approve! Regarding the glitter, I need to correct my post, since I used embossing powder, and not the glitter, but I did not heat it: and the brand is "Stampendous!", it is a pack of 5 different powders. Here is the link http://www.joann.com/stampendous-embossing-powder-kit-glamour/12286365.html#q=stampendous+embossing+powder&start=32 just so that you can see actual product. I believe I used detail gold on it. I sprayed the jingle bells with multi-purpose spray adhesive and then just pored powder on it. I had the same issue with mod podge on a previous project and I already had this spray adhesive at home, so I tried it and it turned out way better for this purpose.
DeleteAnyways, thank you so very much for taking time to stop by and make my day! See you on the dance floor my friend! Hugs from Vegas :)
Wow really, Martha Stewart glitter...adding that to my Christmas wish list!! Thanks for the link. It's dark here too...dark when I get up, dark by dinner. Makes the winter feel especially long! Thank goodness for crafting! hugs :)
