City Crafter Challenge Blog #250 "Use It Up"

Hello everyone,

It's time for a new challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog
This week's host is Ros who wants us to create a card or a project using scraps and then to tell what they are. Thank you Ros for picking this theme! I pretty much turned it into my resolution to use up all my scraps if possible on all future projects if possible before touching any new cardstock. I hope you will join in on this super fun and very useful challenge :)

This card was created out of this:


I decided to create tall and skinny card in purple tones. I embossed a piece of cardstock, one of the scrap pieces, but before I did that, I inked debossed side of the embossing folder with some Seedless Preserves Distress Ink to give me that nice vintage looking colored background and to highlight the texture.


I used Spellbinders flower die to cut out all the layers for my flower, distressed it with Picket Fence Distress Paint and added some flower stamens. In the back of the flower are two Spellbinders Fancy Tags embellished with a little heart which is actually a scrap piece from that same die :)


I made a row of banner from the leftover patterned paper and added a ribbon bow...


I added small pearls here and there for a more elegant touch...

      Awww Tracey, thank you so much!!! Thanks to Ros and her theme selection for CCCB challenge I am now on a mission to use up all my scraps before starting to use any new cardstock from my stash! I have been 90% successful at it believe it or not, that just tells you how many scraps I have. Thank you so much for stopping by my dear friend :)

    Gorgeous card Samra! I love the tall and skinny format, one of my favs and this one is amazing! I can't believe you put this together from scraps! Love the texture you achieved with the debossing technique and all your shades of purple are so beautiful! Gorgeous flower too! Such a perfectly put together piece! Love it! hugs :)

It is pretty much my mission to use up all of them before I start touching any other card stock...it is pretty amazing how much scrap I have, scary!!! See you on the dance floor my dear!

    Eeek! Elegant, classy, stunning and breathtaking are just a few words to describe this card. Love the techniques you employed, the shabby vintage color (my favorite color btw), and the overall attitude. Yes, if a card could have an attitude, this one would be sacheying down a catwalk...

    It's amazing what you can do with some scraps of papers, isn't it? I've made the same resolution as you - to use up my scraps. I have way too many.

    Oh my! I really enjoy looking at all the details you add to your creations, Samra. You've inspired me to use the technique of inking an embossing folder once again. It's been a while since I did it. Your results are fabulous.
