Purple Wedding Dress Card

Hello everyone,

Just a quick post of my latest creation:


I used a piece of black card stock as my base, added pieces of chipboard treated with grey paint, one step crackle by Deco Art and white gesso.


The sentiment is computer generated and cut out using the newest addition my my dies: Spellbinders Victorian Medallion 2. I added a few crystal gems just to add some sparkle to this rustic design...


The bodice of the dress was embossed with Spellbinders Shapeabilities Sparkle and then inked with Dusty Concord and Seedless Grapes DI.


It took several yards of hand died seam binding ribbon to create the dress skirt. I added two fabric flowers just because :)

    Gasp!! This is absolutely stunning, Samra!! Wow!! I am absolutely love with the dress made of gorgeous ribbon!! The crackle background is the perfect backdrop!!     Samra, you know you had my heart on this one! I love, love, love that crackle background, and the purple dress is just amazing! Wow! That's a lot of seam binding, and you have died it to this unbelievable color! (Since you use so much seambinding, you must have a great source--do you mind sharing your source?) Your card captures the essence of the Bumaga-Maraka mood board to a tee! What a gorgeous, gorgeous card! Big hugs and lots of applause to you!

      Thank you so much Sara, my dear! Source for seam binding is Wawak Sewing Supplies. I order stuff from them online...they don't have huge color selection but their prices are reasonable.

      Aww Loraine, thank you so very kindly for stopping by and I am glad that you like my card :) Mixed media is not my go to style...I prefer shabby chic, no mess with paints and stuff, but I do go out of my comfort zone and create stuff that is more of a mixed media...

    Hi Samra! I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately. I just started working at a new job and besides there's also something else, but that "something" I can't share with you just yet. But will do, soon. ;)
    I absolutely love how you created this dress. it's gorgeous and I would totally wear something similar (e.g. if I ever got married). Love the colour and the whole design of this card. Stunning!

    Samra, that dress is drop dead gorgeous!! I can't imagine how you put all of those ruffles together. The texture on the bodice is also amazing and so is that wonderful background! Your work is ALWAYS amazing!

    You absolutely nailed the challenges, Samra! That dress, oh my goodness! The shades of purple are nothing short of glorious. Love how you arranged the ribbon to create the bottom portion of the dress. The crackled background grabbed my attention right away. I love gray, love crackle.
