City Crafter Challenge Blog Week #266 "Die Cut Gold"

Hello everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog and Ros is our host this week. She would like to see a project that features a die cut(s) in gold.



Here is my creation with a gold die cut:


I used a Spellbinders Fleur de Lis die to cut out a piece of cardstock that I painted with gold acrylic paint. This card was made for a lady that celebrated her 98th birthday and loves color red :) Inspiration for this card came from all the wonderful creations of my very dear blog friend Lisa of  A Mermaid's Crafts. Thank you Lisa!


I created the background with texture paste and damask stencil and when that layer was dry I painted everything with red acrylic paint since none of the papers I had were really truly red...


I made the flowers using Spellbinders Flower die embellishing the center with some painted flower stamens and micro beads...The shabby bow was made using seam binding ribbon...


I made a matching box for the card.

    Wow! That cascade of flowers is simply beautiful and the simplicity of the gold against it is just perfect. Micro beads in the flower centres is inspired.

    Oh my gosh, this is stunning, Samra!! Wow!! I love, love the colors!! The gold just pops against that beautiful red!! And your flowers!! Love!! I an in awe that you make them!! I have a ton of flower dies but I get lazy and use ones I purchase instead :) The background texture is so fabulous!! And a matching box is such a perfect touch!!     Sorry I'm late to the party my friend, my computer was infected and it took me a while to work things out. This is really one of the most exquisite cards I have every seen! That red is just gorgeous and in combo with the gold, it's regal and posh!! Your flowers are stunning as always! Lisa is such an inspiration but this card is all you girlfriend! Love it! hugs :)

    Samra, I came to visit for a little inspiration to make a wedding card, and I'm so happy I did! A trip to Paper Talk With Samra always cheers me up! What a beautiful red card and box, with those G O R G E O U S Samra blooms and stunning bow! Bow I wish I could craft with you and learn how to do these things! Maybe a bow tutorial??? You are amazing my friend, and your colors always ROCK! Your 98 year young lady friend is gonna LOVE this! I am in the process of making one for a 101 year young woman, who still plays the piano--wish me luck! Hugs!

    I am with Sara on this one. Visiting here does cheer me up! Red is my favorite color and you have done wonders using red and gold. Wowzers! The gold die cut is so tres chic! And your luscious layers make my heart swoon Samra-cakes! How do you get your Spell Binders to work correctly? My SB never work out (I only have 2). Hugz to you muffin! ~Niki

      Thank you Niki :) Regarding the Spellbinders, I use my cuttlebug to cut them and always tape the paper to the die, hope this helps..Have a great day!
