Anything But Cute April Challenge - Earth Day

Hello everyone,

I am hosting my last challenge over at Anything But Cute challenge blog as a part of their Design Team and I chose the theme of Earth Day. We have a gorgeous mood board to give you inspiration and design team creations to accompany it.

Here is my creation:

and here is the wonderful Earth Day mood board:

Please create a mixed media project inspired by the mood board and beauty of our planet. Please tell us what inspired you. Entries for this challenge can be echo friendly, or even recycled/upcycled items; or depiction of the sea, mountain, river, forest, flowery meadow...let's celebrate our planet!

Here are some of the process pictures:

This is what I used to create the flowers. The flowers were cut with Cricut Flower Shoppe and I actually ended up using hot glue instead of glossy accent since hot glue dries faster. The flower centers are just a hot glue covered with glitter.

Little house was treated with black paint and white crackle paint to give it the rustic look...

I used egg carton to simulate rock texture around the lake, which was made using a crinkled piece of blue cardstock and covered with glossy accent to get that shiny water-like look...

The starry sky background....

You can see the texture of the house and lake...

The shabby bow in multiple colors...

I would like to share a beautiful video from two talented musicians from Croatia - 2CELLOS that is showcasing the beauty of National Park Plitvica Lakes in Croatia...

....and couple pics of nature from my native country Bosnia & Herzegovina...

River Neretva running through town Mostar

 Bosnian Pyramid :)

Well, I hope you get inspired and join my last challenge at Anything But Cute! Please check out what my team mates created for this challenge also!

  1. Samra, where do I start to comment on this amazing and beautiful piece of art??! I will start on your background; the colors are brilliant and your shading is spot on to add your elements. The tiny house with it's peeling paint just stole my heart at first, and then you added that (genius) lake, those amazing flowers, and fuffy coordinating bow to complete a lovely Earth Day scene! Your friend is going to cry when she sees this card...so full of beauty and thoughtful representations! Love it! We sure are going to miss you at Anything But Cute! Hugs!

  7. Gorgeous project Samra. I love the process photos. The little house reminds me of many of the cottages that I saw in the English countryside. Love the idea for the centres of your flowers and the multi-coloured bow pulls all of the colours together in such a nice way.

The photos from your country look like postcards - absolutely gorgeous. Wishing you all the best as you move away from the DT and I will continue to check out your lovely creations.

    Hugs!

  11. Samra, I am so happy to have met you through our art. You taught me more about shabby chic and flower techniques than I ever thought I would learn. You are a stupendously awesome sauce artists and will be greatly missed as a teamie. But I will definitely see you in Blogland and hopefully IRL one day. I hear there's a huge dirt playground in your neck of the woods that's lets people play with bulldozers and such, so a trip is in order!

Now for this gorgeous and cozy design-your background is magnificent and so textural. Your house is so cozy and I can just feel the warm Fire in the hearth. The greenery frames the house beautifully and adds an air of wonder. Fantabulous and Wowzers design dearie! Hugz to you muffin! ~Niki
