Anything But Cute Challenge #7 "It's Ornamental"

Hello everyone,

it is time for a new challenge at Anything But Cute and this month's host is Cec who would like to see mixed media Holiday ornament or Holiday decor for your house or table...

This is what I created:

The pictures will lead you through the process:

Paper mache start ornement...

Covered with Inka Gold Old Silver Metal Gloss Paint...

I used that...

...to create this...

I covered the round metal filigree with Art Deco Gold Rush Metallic Paste...

I added large corner metal filigrees underneath the metal flower arrangement...

I truly hope you will get inspired by my project and create something for our challenge at Anything But Cute....
Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by...

  1. Holy wowzers Samra!! I am just in love with your Christmas star! I took some notes of your process, which was just wonderful to see (a bit like being a fly on the wall of your craft room). I love how you utilized the gold waxes and your choices of glitters are beyond stunning! The different textures work so well together that I would hang that star even before you added the gorgeous filigree pieces! A decoration that will surely catch people's attention as it glimmers on your tree! So well done my friend. hugs :)

  3. Great Christmas star, Samra! I loved reading your post to see how you created it, and quite honestly, you had me at the first step! That's a brilliant gold, and I'm sure this is going to capture a lot of attention on your tree, as it catches the light. But adding that awesome glitter glass, beads, and metallic pieces just takes this to the AMAZING category! Well done! You've inspired me to get out my pack of stars and get creating for my family! Thank you; I needed the nudge! Big hugs!

  9. Samra! I love this so much I want to go out and buy all the products you used so that I can make one myself! I am not usually a gold person but I just love all the gold glitter and those tiny little beads and then the way you used the filligree metal corners is just so clever. Gorgeous, just gorgeous! 17. Fantastic transformation of the star. I love the neutral colour palette and all the micro beads. The combination of the filigree pieces makes a wonderful focal point. This will look gorgeous on your tree - heck it would look gorgeous on mine too so I might just have to steal this idea.
