Shabby Stripes Birthday Card

Hello everyone,

Just a quick post of a card I made for a friend of mine...

There are several layers of different shade of blue cardstock, all with distressed edges painted with Picket Fence Distress Ink.

Sentiment was printed on a piece of white cardstock that was then cut into shape of a tag. Handmade flowers were covered with gesso to give them more of a shabby look. The second tag was embossed with stripe embossing folder that was inked on debossed side with blue ink...I cut out a 3.5" doily and nested it behind the top tag that was decorated with pearls...Shabby bow was made with white and blue seambinding.

I am entering this card into following challenges:

Crafty Cardmakers and More..."Stripes"

Mojo Monday #386

Scrap & Craft Inspiration Challenge #3 "Birthday"

Simon Says Stamp Blog Monday Challenge "No Rules"

Simon Says Stamp Blog Wednesday Challenge "Anything Goes"

and

613 Avenue Create "Anything Goes with a Birthday Twist"

I hope you enjoyed this post...
Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by...

  2. Very pretty. Love the colour palette and the wonderful seam binding. The layers are terrific especially with all the added pearls and the flowers. Blue was my Mother's favourite colour and she collected blue glass - 800 pieces in all. After I disposed of all but a few special pieces I thought I would never like the colour again but this card has helped to change my mind.
    Hugs!

    1. Dear Cec, thank you so much for your comment, I am glad that my card helped you dislike the blue color little bit less :) Blue is my favorite color but that is not the reason why I chose this color palette for the card...it will kinda match the gift I have for my friend...it is a perfume "Light Blue" by Dolce & Gabana...Anyways, have a great day my dear :)

    1. Awwww Kara Lynne you are super sweet!!! I am honored that you would like to craft with me :) If you ever visit Las Vegas, let me know and we can have a craft party :) Regarding roses: I watched some you tube videos and had to really practice alot. At the beginning of my crafting days, which is actually less than a year ago, it would take me probably 15 minutes to make one rose. :( Now I am at under 5 minutes :) that includes shaping and everything else...Pretty cool, huh?
Anyways, you truly made my day with your visit and sweet comment :) Hugs :)

  5. Gorgeous Samra!! Love the tall and skinny format and you did such a great job with the sketch challenge! Love that you used diagonal stripes, it's so much more elegant and eye catching than straight up and down! Beautiful flowers as always and those pearl borders on the tag are simply stunning!! Another treasure that I'm sure your friend will just love! See you on the dance floor.

Oh yeah, DT hat on now...Thank you for joining us at Crafty Cardmakers and More for our 'Stripes' challenge! Hugs, Pamellia DT :)

  15. Ahhh, this is just beautiful, Samra. :) The blue and white remind me of days gone by at the beach. The stripes are like the cabanas, and of course all that blue...the sea and sky. :)

What a treasure for your friend!
